A day in a slow life

No work meetings or hectic schedule to manage, no timetable to respect or project to complete... All you have to do is enjoy yourself. Breathe in, breathe out... slow down! That’s what the slow life is all about.
9.30am Open one eye. And close it again. It’s far too early to move.
10am Decide to get up. A large glass of water, three apricots and off to the swimming pool. A quick dive and a few lengths, now the day can begin!
10.45am Back to the rental accommodation, via the bakery... of course! A proper holiday breakfast in the shade of the trees: freshly-pressed orange juice, granary bread, artisanal jam, goat cheese... Local produce direct from the campsite market, convenient and so good.
11.30am A spot of reading under the olive trees. A butterfly flutters by? Take the time to admire it.
12 noon It’s time to start the 2nd chapter of my book. A blue tit stops by to say hi. Keep still and don’t move so it stays around a little longer...
1.30pm Didn’t have time to prepare anything at all for lunch. Head for the campsite restaurant.
2.30pm Obligatory afternoon snooze, but no more than 40 minutes at a time. Although, maybe...
3.10pm Hmm, how about trying golf this afternoon? A sport that’s just perfect for the slow life, in the heart of nature… and without having to leave the campsite, of course. OK, let’s give it a go!
6.30pm Aperitif at the poolside. A chance to meet up with all the mates. Happiness is never far away.
8.30pm A barbecue with friends. No time for shopping? No stress, the evening market and the little campsite mini-market have all I need.
11pm Why not just lie back and look up at the sky? Wow! A shooting star! Quick, make a wish: please let my next holiday be as fabulous and as serene as this one!
