What to do in Hauts-de-France during your camping holiday?

An impressive choice of activities awaits you! History buffs and all who love to go exploring will be over the moon. The Hauts-de-France region has a particularly rich heritage. So don’t miss a visit to its many towns of Art and History: Lille and its historical centre, Boulogne-sur-Mer and its blockhouses dating back to the Second World War or Cambrai and its thirty or so buildings each a classified or listed historical monument. Or head off to discover the sublime Gothic cathedrals of Amiens and Beauvais, major masterpieces of mediaeval architecture certain to leave you speechless!

Nature-lover? Bordered by the North Sea and the English Channel, the region enjoys a magnificent coastline with immense sandy beaches that couldn’t be better for long seafront walks! Or go hiking at the Grand Site des Deux-Caps that stretches all the way from the Cap Blanc Nez to the Cap Gris Nez. On a fine day you can even glimpse the coast of England in the distance. Awesome!

And its gastronomy? Prepare to be totally spoilt! Pay a little visit to an “estaminet” to sample some of the culinary delights typical of Ch’ti cooking. Ch’ti? Simply the name of the local people and dialect in this corner of France, as authentic as their rich and satisfying cuisine. Staying in the Somme department, in Hauts-de-France?

Between the white chalk cliffs of Ault, the long beaches of soft fine sand and the pebble banks, this is a truly magical spot. But that’s far from all; head off to meet the seal colony that set up home in the bay some years ago and the migrating birds that stop off on the Picardy coast. The Bay is an official member of the Club of the 30 Most Beautiful Bays of the World, and was awarded the title of Grand Site de France in 2011.
