    Once upon a time...

Of course, you’re expecting a host of activities on a Western theme, and you certainly won’t be disappointed. The campsite offers workshops to learn the techniques used by the cowboys, the backwoodsmen, the Indians and even the gold prospectors. Try your hand at lassoing, panning for gold (searching for particles of gold in the river), dreamcatcher making, paleo workshop or communicating with horses... You can’t get much more original than that when it comes to activities for a camping holiday!

For a total immersion in life on the ranch, head for the campsite equestrian centre and remember to book your western riding lessons. Your children will be able to discover pony riding from the age of 3 years and enjoy fun lessons from 7 years upwards. To stay on theme, children can then have fun at the playground where the wooden play apparatus has a decidedly Western feel! Live a real Wild West holiday!

    Watersports to conquer the waves

By staying at a campsite near the Hourtin-Carcans Lake, you’ll be able to enjoy its innumerable watersports; there’ll be plenty of fun for everyone! Kitesurfing, SUP, windsurfing... Whether you’re an old hand or a beginner, there’s something for every level!

To take things a little further, head for the ocean beach at Hourtin and have a go at surfing, the region’s number one sport! You’re going to adore riding the waves on a surfboard, as you take in the amazing view of the dunes of soft fine sand.

    New frontiers to explore

Hourtin and the area around offer a fabulous playground for all who love cycling and hiking. Between lake, forest and ocean, you’ll be able to discover all the secrets of the region thanks to the kilometres of cycle tracks that have been laid out. By staying at the camping Le Village Western, you’ll be ideally placed to visit the Pays Médoc and all its treasures. Don’t hesitate to ask for further information at reception. The staff are always delighted to help!
