Do you know Courseulles-sur-Mer?

Courseulles-sur-Mer is one of the many charming towns dotted along the coast of the Calvados. It is also part of the Côte de Nacre, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Normandy. It has to be said that the town has everything needed to please visitors.

The beach offers you the chance to have fun in the water when the weather is fine and also try your hand at one of the many watersports activities on offer. Others will be able to laze on their towels and delve their feet into the fine sand. For those who enjoy walking, the marina will be the perfect spot for a breath of fresh air and a chance to enjoy the beautiful Normandy weather.

And if all this was not reason enough to opt for a campsite in the region, they are just some of the many surprises that await you. For most holidaymakers, a visit to Courseulles-sur-Mer is a cultural experience. Why? Simply because the town's beaches are famous around the world for being part of Juno Beach, the code name used during the Normandy landings to refer to one of the Anglo-Canadian sectors. More than 20,000 soldiers landed here on 6 June 1944 tasked with driving back the German army. And it was on Juno Beach, between Courseulles-sur-Mer and Graye-sur-Mer, that General De Gaulle landed.

Today, this decisive, heroic and tragic event has created a strong connection between the D-Day Beaches and the French, British and Canadian people. Thanks to its beaches, the town has become a memorial site that recounts the story of Operation Overlord.
