There is a great deal of history in the region. Stroll around its medieval villages, such as the Iberian village of Ullastret, with its exceptional medieval ruins of great historic value and its exhibition centre where ancient objects found during archaeological excavations are presented. The medieval site of Peratallada, especially the Plaça de Les Voltes, has preserved its medieval urban character over the years. Discover the typical architecture of the period and treat yourself at one of the many restaurants in the surrounding area.
Just a few kilometres from the town, Montgri Castle is another great surprise in the area. Located on a small limestone mountain of the same name, this fortification dating from the early 14th century offers a sweeping view over the entire Empordà plain as far as the Canigou massif!
