The Somme beaches stretching as far as the eye can see

Just a few short miles from the campsite, you’ll find the stunning beaches of the Bay of Somme. Start with the vast, south-facing Le Crotoy beach 2.5 kilometres away, the sunniest and closest to Yelloh! Village Le Ridin. This expanse of sand and pebbles stretches over 6 kilometres and is supervised in July and August. Make the most of high tide for a spot of natural bathing, shore fishing or simply for a walk along the “ridins” (ridges of sand formed by the current).

If you venture a little further, you’ll be able to explore the other emblematic beaches of Picardy:

    • Quend beach (12 km): Almost 15 kilometres of fine sand, perfect for sand yachting and shore fishing. With its walking trails, cycle paths through the pine forests and the choice of watersports, this is the ideal destination to revel in the unspoilt surroundings. Quend has been awarded the Bay of Somme-Maritime Picardy Natural Regional Park label.
    • Fort-Mahon (18 km): A huge beach, ideal for family activities, watersports and horse riding. It has the HANDIPLAGE and Blue Flag labels and also hosts events such as the Beach Art Festival.
    • Saint-Valery-sur-Somme beach (18 km): This medieval, heritage-rich town is around 18 km away and is a great place to simply wander, exploring its narrow, flower-filled streets. Alternatively, how about observing the seals from a Hawaiian canoe? The town is listed as one of France’s “Most Scenic Detours” and really is enchanting.
    • Berck beach (27 km): Berck is paradise for board sports with its 12 kilometres of sand and its Blue Flag label. Don’t miss the International Kite Festival, an amazing sight next scheduled in April 2025.
    • Le Touquet-Paris-Plage beach (40 km): this chic station is a winner with its Blue Flag beaches, high-end activities such as golf and horse riding, and its covered market which is a listed historical monument.
    • Cayeux-sur-Mer beach (27 km): Cayeux is a delight with its coloured beach huts and distinctive pebbles, and is a great spot for kitesurfing. It hosts the Cayeux Kite Festival in May/June.
    • Mers-les-Bains beach (40 km): With its white cliffs and Belle Epoque houses, this beach oozes a very authentic vibe, and is ideal for fishing and walking.
    • Ault beach (34 km): Ault appeals with its majestic cliffs and the Bois de Cise woodland, a great spot for a hike. Listed as one of France’s favourite villages, it is one of the jewels in the Bay of Somme’s crown.
    • Le Tréport beach (41 km): a pebble beach that’s ideal for fishing or simply relaxing. Take the funicular railway to discover the upper town and its spectacular views.
