Where would you like to start? A cultural visit with a touch of history? Discover the only remaining tower of the castle that was once the pride of the lords of Lesparre: the Tour d’Honneur, a listed historical monument. This imposing square keep, dating from the beginning of the 14th century, is a mediaeval site measuring some 30m in height with 5 floors that have been restored. Today it is home to a museum and an art exhibition from July until the end of September. Don’t hesitate to be accompanied by a guide when you visit, they’ll be able to recount the fascinating history of the town and the tower. To explore a little further, stop off to admire the outer walls of the Law Courts, built in 1832, and the Palais du Costume with its personal collection by Mazarin, the famous costume designer, that will take you from prehistory right through to the Belle Époque. History buffs are certain to love it! Then relax with a leisurely stroll through the charming town centre and pull up a chair on a restaurant terrace to sample the local specialities. You’re going to adore your holiday near Lesparre-Médoc.
